Up around Jasper the land rises into the foothills, and the trees match it: big, old hardwoods on lots that are often sloped and rocky. Those trees are worth keeping when they are healthy, and Robin will always tell you when one can be pruned or watched rather than removed.
When a tree does have to come down on a grade, the plan is everything. A slope changes where cut sections can safely land, where the crane or a climber can work from, and how the crew moves around the tree. We would rather spend the extra time planning it than rush a removal on uneven ground.

We decide where the crane or a climber works from, and how each section comes down under control.
- Lower in sections
The tree comes down piece by piece, rigged and lowered rather than dropped onto uneven ground.
- Clean to grade
We clear the wood and debris off the slope and can grind the stump so the ground is left safe and usable.
Working safely on a grade
The extra risk on a sloped Jasper lot is not the tree, it is the ground. Footing is worse, cut wood can roll, and there is less flat room to work. That is why removals here are rigged and lowered under control rather than felled, and why we plan the access before the crew arrives.
If a tree on a slope has been storm-damaged or partly uprooted, keep well clear, stay away from any line, and call or text our 24-hour line. An unstable tree on a grade is one to leave to the crew.

What happens to the wood on a wooded lot?
We haul out the debris and can grind the stump below grade. If you would like some of the wood cut and left for firewood, just say so on the estimate.
Can a big old hardwood be saved instead of removed?
Often, yes, and that is the first thing Robin checks. A healthy tree may only need pruning, cabling, or deadwood cleared. We remove a tree when it truly needs to go, not by default.
